Today we are pleased to announce the launch of our Cool App Lab site.

Cool App Lab will be our site for offering smaller pieces of software for desktop and mobile platforms including addons for existing software such as the Kayako Help Desk software.

Our current offerings are detailed below.

BlackBerry Ticket Client for Kayako SupportSuite / eSupport (Paid)
Our BlackBerry Ticket Client for Kayako (in the same way as the official Kayako Mobile application for Windows Mobile works) allows you to synchronise a snapshot of your Help Desk's tickets onto your BlackBerry device over the air (via Carrier Data Network, BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES), BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) or Wireless (WiFi)). You can then go into any ticket you like and, if required, post a reply to that ticket, add notes, add billing entries, etc. Once you have replied to a batch of tickets, you can synchronise again and all changes will be posted to the Help Desk.

Integration API for Kayako SupportSuite / eSupport (Free)
Currently, there are two ways to integrate the customer side of Kayako with another application. The first is a LoginShare which has always been found to confuse the user unless you skin your Kayako installation to look exactly like your main site. It is also confusing as they must login again regardless of if they have already logged into your main site. The second way is by including Kayako's core files and integrating in a similar way to how ModernBill and WHMCS do. There are a number of problems in doing this. The first is you require access to swift.php and functions.php which are both encoded files and you must decode these using a decoding service or try and get the unencoded versions from Kayako before you can edit them. The second is that your templates then become a maze of If and Else statements to say if the interface is your integration, show this. The final issue is that it stops you really being able to upgrade Kayako. Our solution to this problem has been to write an API with an optional SOAP interface that you can have your main site software (CMS, etc) connect to to get the information it needs (Knowledge Base Categories and Articles, and Tickets). All that you need to do to install this API is to upload it to your Kayako folder on your server which means it doesn't stop you from upgrading Kayako in the future.

Attachments Migration Tool for Kayako SupportSuite / eSupport (Free)
If you have started your Kayako Help Desk with database storage and then moved to file storage for attachments or the other way around, you will no doubt know that the attachments uploaded before you changed the storage method will be remaining in the initial storage method. We have created this simple tool to enable you to migrate all attachments between file storage and database storage

Copy Plain Text for Mozilla Firefox / Thunderbird (Free)
Our Copy Plain Text addon for Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird allows you to copy any text on a web page or inside an email in plain text format without the associated text formatting. This allows the text to follow the formatting of the location you are pasting it into such as a text document or spreadsheet. Previously such functionality was only available by pasting the text into an application such as Notepad first and then into the application you wanted it in.

Database Importer / Exporter for Version Control Systems (Free)
This tool is handy for people who use Version Control systems such as Subversion (SVN) and wish to commit MySQL database changes to the Version Control server which is handy if multiple developers are working on the same database.

Our Windows Mobile Live Support Client for Kayako will soon join the line up as soon as we finish integrating it into our new licensing system.

Expect to see many paid and free applications added to this site over the next few months.
